英国利兹大学王斌华博士来我校讲学

      近日,英国利兹大学王斌华博士应邀在我校行政楼报告厅做了题为“中英早期交往历史上的译员——兼谈翻译在历史和现实中的重要作用”的讲座,讲座由学院副院长主持。
  讲座围绕中英早期交往历史上的译员这一主题展开,王博士向在座师生介绍了关于中英早期交往的历史,并讲解了译员在这一历史时期的作用。他指出,随着早期中英贸易的发展,译员充当的角色也在不断发展变化。王博士还详细分析了18至19世纪译员在贸易、外交和军事接触等方面所扮演的角色,同时讨论了在重大历史事件中译员的各种职能。王博士还根据自己的研究成果,结合实际情况讨论了当今翻译界的热点问题,并强调此类研究会持续下去。

  主讲人简介:
  Dr. Binhua WANG is associate professor of interpreting and translation studies and programme director of MA Conference Interpreting and Translation Studies at the Centre for Translation Studies, University of Leeds. Previously he was assistant professor in Hong Kong Polytechnic University and associate professor and head of Department of Interpreting in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. As a specialist in English/Chinese interpreting with over 15 years’ professional experience, he is Fellow of the “Chartered Institute of Linguists” (CIOL) and expert member (Fellow) of the “Translators Association of China” (TAC). He is also vice chair of the academic committee of “World Interpreter and Translator Training Association”.
  His research focuses on various aspects of interpreting and translation studies, in which he supervises PhD students. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters of interpreting and translation studies including over 30 in CSSCI/Core journals and several in SSCI/A&HCI journals such asInterpreting,Meta,Perspectives and Babel. He has authored a monographA Descriptive Study of Norms in Interpreting(2013), co-edited a collectionInterpreting in China: New Trends and Challenges(2010) and co-translated the Chinese version ofIntroducing Interpreting Studies(Pöchhacker, 2004). His textbooks of interpreting training are also widely used in China’s MTI and BTI programmes. His research has been funded by some major research grants including the General Research Fund (GRF) of the Hong Kong Research Grants Council and China Ministry of Education Research Grant for Humanities and Social Sciences.
